Liz is trained in SPACE - Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions. SPACE is an evidence-based treatment program developed at the Yale Child Study Center for parents of children and teens struggling with anxiety and OCD.
-
Specialized training in AutPlay, a neurodiversity affirming framework for implementing play therapy to address the mental health needs of neurodivergent children and their families.
-
Liz is a Certified Synergetic Play Therapist, an evidence-informed model that combines play therapy with neuroscience, attachment theory, and nervous system regulation. Instead of simply managing behaviors, therapists use the play and their own authentic presence to help children process trauma and self-regulate. The ultimate goal of SPT is to help children expand their capacity to handle emotions, feel safe in their bodies, and naturally decrease challenging behaviors.
-
Extensive experience in schools helps Liz support families and their children as they navigate challenges in school, including executive functioning, school anxiety, social anxiety, and escalated behaviors.
Benefits of play therapy
Play therapy gives children a safe and supportive space to express themselves, explore their emotions, and make sense of their experiences - using the language they know best: play. Through play, children can work through difficult feelings, build emotional regulation skills, and develop healthier ways of relating to themselves and others. It helps them process challenges in a developmentally appropriate way, supporting healing, growth, and resilience.
